In his 35-year career, Matt has held senior corporate affairs roles in the Australian oil and gas industry and has worked closely with industry, government, and regional communities throughout Australia. He has served as the Public Affairs Director of the Australian Petroleum Production & Exploration Association, the peak body of the Australian oil and gas industry, and at the International Gas Union.
Matt is a former press secretary to Australian Government Ministers for Finance and Trade. These roles involved extensive contact with foreign governments, Australian government agencies, industry peak bodies and private sector enterprises.
Prior to working in government and industry, Matt spent 13 years in journalism in Australia, Latin America and the United States. He has worked for publications including The Australian, The Australian Financial Review, The Economist, Financial Times, International Financing Review, AméricaEconomÃa and The Hollywood Reporter.
Before beginning his career in journalism, Matt spent five years working for a major Australian bank.
